-To have a blast creating food preparation or how-to demonstrations.

Why join as a leader ?
-To share your passions and inspire tomorrow's young leader to be productive members of their community.
How much does it cost ?
-The leaders who guide you through the projects are all volunteers. The only cost is the stuff you need to buy to do the projects. For example buying the icing bags and tips to do cake decorating. You don't need to buy a cow to do the dairy cow project. There are farmers that will gladly "lend" you a cow at their barn for the duration of your project.

So how do members join?
-Your first step is to call our club leader Mary Magee at 538-8559 and tell her you want to join. September is best to join but you can do so until late November. Join us every 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Somerset school for a meeting that starts at 6:30pm or 7pm. Your parents are always welcome to stay.
-Then you choose one or more projects from the big list and fill out a Registration Form.
-Talking with your project leader will help explain everything you need to do and know.
-During the January, February or March club meeting you will show other members your cool demonstration or give them a speech. You can even do it with a friend!
-In May you will show one person that you learned to judge and compare four lifeskills items or four animals with your leader.
-In August you will bring your completed projects and your animals at the Berwick Apple Dome so you can get feedback on how well you completed the projects and trained your animal. This is called Achievement Days.
-For a more detailed description of the activities check out our Activities webpage.

Is 4-H competitive?
-4-H is awesome because it is both competitive and non-competitive. To progress, all you have to do is your personal best. It's up to you to decide if you want to be competitive and be compared to others. For every activity (projects, demos/speeches, judging) you get some feedback on what you did. Those who do really well and are interested can go and compete against members of other Kings County clubs and other Nova Scotia clubs.
